haven't been able to post for three days now due to what LJ support calls a 'known temporary issue' with server connection reset.  at what point does it cease to be 'temporary'?

sunlight falling around but not on these blooms produced a subtle glow, as if emanating from within.

this garden has a dead tree which has become a natural trellis for a rose, some of which are blooming 20 ft up in the air.  here are details of a couple that were more down to earth:

the kids do seem to be enjoying their visit.  the day trip up to New York seems to have missed its primary objective but it would appear that they visited other sites of equal interest; certainly there weren't any complaints from the tired but happy travelers who returned that night. 

yesterday featured an event important to and anticipated by them, though one whose advent I had been oblivious: the opening of the 3^rd pirate movie. 

so we all went. 
as did others: many of whom appeared in at least some piratical garb. 

it was interesting to see how far the amusement park ride has taken the film series it spawned, such that it appears to have moved beyond conventional notions of plot, sequence, and the like.  but lots of special effects: as the credits rolled by it seemed that the two most populated categories were "digital artist" and "stunts".
