the West Woods

[OT from cottage renovations]

Maple Lake and the West Woods are on the other side of old Route 124 from the Grove.  I don't go there often, and when I do it's invariably for a walk to the lake rather than through the rest of the woods. 

in the late afternoon it was: quiet. 
with the swimming season over this is as one might expect, with neither Grover nor trespasser to break the silence.

after taking the picture I *did* walk down there, but didn't go into the Lake grounds because I had neglected to ascertain the current combination.

Are you saying there is a gate or something that has a lock?

the lake grounds are in the West Woods; they are fenced and locked to limit our liability.  the Lake Committee changes the combination from time to time but I don't go down there often enough to always know its current number.  the rest of the Grove (walkways, parks, fields, and the East and West Woods) is of course open to all.
