[not really OT from cottage renovations]

here's a theoretical question: suppose your cottage had a couch transplant. one that was overdue. way overdue. as in: you had been grateful each day that your cottage is a private residence rather than a public accommodation and therefore not subject to inspection by public health authorities who upon seeing that one ratty piece of furniture would have been certain to have shut the place down on the spot.

and then, suppose that your cottage had been refenestrated, and with a dedication coming on you had finally gotten around to replacing said disreputable couch.

here's the question: how would you dispose of the old one?
