the Grove's recreation committee is sponsoring a series of ballroom dance classes for youth in the Town Hall this month. the first one was this evening.

there were two sections, an earlier one for younger children and a later one for teenagers.

by the time the second section had started twilight had faded, changing the hall's ambient light. I couldn't resist the circular shadows cast upon the wooden floor by outstretched pairs of arms.
instructor David Rapkievian demonstrates how to spin one's partner while students look on attentively.
a clear sign of the success of the event was that nobody wanted to leave.
several of the children stayed on for the session intended for their elders, after the end of which the music and dancing continued of their own momentum.
the classes will continue for the next three on Fridays (15, 22 and 29 September).

yes, it is highly contagious. I will admit to having had the distinction of the last dance (with a string mop, back and forth across the floor).
