crossed wires in the consumer profile?

[OT from cottage renovations]

an email from amazon.com just materialised in the ol' inbox, suggesting that I might be interested in these titles:

they seem to know more about me than I do ... that transformation into a midlife single woman had completely escaped my notice.  as to how it came to theirs, I haven't a clue.

Perhaps they find your true demographic less marketable and are trying to gently nudge you into midlife single womanhood instead? It's fantastically crafty and a lot cheaper than doing studies on how to sell to more than one demographic.

Perhaps Amazon will peg everyone as this one type and then keep pushing it until we give in and learn to like the Midlife Single Woman lifestyle? Then we can all join the Redhat Society and be sisters together.

midlife, and single: I've been doing both of those for some time now though not always with grace nor without whining.

but the guy-to-gal transition is going to take some effort.

Kinda reminds me of all the junk mail I get, and it's all addressed to "Lois." I had no idea that was my internet alias. Additionally, these emails tell me how I can:

*make money at home stuffing envelopes
*increase my IQ by learning Mandarin Chinese through osmosis in 48 hours
*lose weight by drinking a special concoction of Windex and ginger ale, used by Indonesian women for centuries!

There are also other ads which shall receive no mention, here. They make me cringe and worry for the future of any children I might oneday raise.

Midlife transformation

Must be because I moved in.

*snort*
speak for yourself.

anywy, it's not so much that you moved in (you did, after all, post that comment from your home in NJ) as much as you are now the subject of a shared custody arrangement.  and I can't say this place is all that attractive if you ended up leaving it in favour of a downtown medical facility :)
