window frame and batten

today's carpentry magic along the S wall produced these window frames rebuilt into the wall and the new batten board applied along the seam between upper and lower beadboard.

with the level having been retired and buried last week I have no idea how this was done, presumably by intuition.  details of method are interesting but not essential when the work is of this quality.

it's like any other specialty, I guess: find a highly competent practitioner whose approach and judgement you trust and with whom you can work well as the job progresses.  the first phase, and bits of work over the years before then, were done by others with whose results I was not necessarily dissatisfied; nonetheless I did not ask them back for more.  that doesn't at all mean they lacked for technical skill: all of them were quite proficient.  but for the best outcome it has to go a step beyond technique, which is why I have often refer to what the Excellent Trim Carpenter does as magic. 

in this space I am quite sparing in the use of the shift key.  when you see capital letters, take note.
