striving for atonement
[OT from cottage renovations]
fool that I am, I managed to miss
betsy_beekeeper's open house yesterday afternoon.
I had meant to attend but other matters engaged my attention and by the time I realised it, the event was already over.
phooey.
that thought was still in my mind late this morning when across the Circle this flower cluster received a service call from a bee (from her colony? who knows?). perhaps she will enjoy these images, and maybe even extend pardon for my absence.

Bee-holden no longer
The bee, lovely as she is, is not one of mine. I don't recognize her face and I'm sure she is not even a close relative to my bees. BUT she may be able to help you with your cottage restoration since she appears to be a bee with carpentry skills.
I hope you'll come do portraits of some of my bees, though. Most of them are very vain and would love to do a sitting for such an talented photographer. -BK
re: Bee-holden no longer
helpful? yeah, right.
I am not kindly disposed to that species. damn carpenter bees have been the advance brigade of the demolition crew for some time now. fortunately they have preferred the new-stuff-that's-coming-down to the old-stuff-that-should-be-preserved.
oh, I know, it's not their fault; they can't tell one kind of dead wood from another so they don't attack historic structures on purpose. but those of us who live in them take it personally anyway. we can't help it any more than they can.
but I'm glad you liked the images and yes, I would like to try for some hive (or inhabitant) portraiture some time.
