a month and a half is plenty enough warning, so no excuses will be accepted for failure to appear.

I hope my feathers and sequins won't stick to any of your fresh paint.

there weren't any such incidents last year (http://www.livejournal.com/~15_the_circle/2005/10/02).  it remains to be seen whether luck will hold or run out.

Well hon....I sure hope you know, I would gladly come if I were anywhere near your neighborhood. But beings I am in California and it would take me an estimated 45 hours to get to you via the only means of transportation I can allow my self... a 2001 Honda Odyssey......I will have to be with you in spirit only. I sure hope you have a great time! I'll be thinking about you. I would love to see your home. My favorite photos are the ones from outside at night. It seems so cozy.

Have fun,
~Colleen

(the inconpic on this reply suggests an alternative to the 2001 Honda Odyssey)

for any event there will always be those who are not in a position to attend.  but in the case of far flung family or distant friends, that much lead time should provide ample opportunity to make whatever arrangements are feasible.

last year's refenestration dedication was the first time I had entertained in a dozen years, and I had made no representations that it would be repeated any sooner than that.  dropping the interval to as many months is a radical step, but there is no reason for anyone to believe the next event will occur on the short rather than the long cycle so the message is clear: carpe diem

carpe diem

the hour, the minute, and at least some drink and food. yes, next time maybe even a SHORTER time will pass (astonishing as that might feel) and we could have a WINTER re-side-ation (my English is amazingly sophisticated, so much so that YOU might not even know this phrase) by moonlight. I am sure stranger things have happened at the circle, and I can only imagine the fun, especially if it snowed........bw

perhaps.  but first I have to survive this event before deciding to revert to long cycle, stick with short cycle, or even truncate to some interval less than a year.  we'll just have to see how things go.

the Circle is lovely in snow by moonlight, I'm surprised if you haven't ever come schussing through it on your cross country skis in that mode.  guess I should lay in a supply of cocoa for ski patrol visitors as I have done for the back stair tobogganists (surely it is the mark of a Grove Eccentric to be in the habit of shoveling snow onto one's back steps to make for better sledding; nobody even finds it remarkable any more).

but actually the Circle has many moods and phases throughout the year, and I must say that I'm pretty taken with all of them.  some I've managed to capture in images, others not; or at least not yet, though the catcam is a surprisingly good tool for that purpose.  and I've been wondering how the change in lighting from the new old upper window will alter how it looks with snow + ice + moon.

and yes, I caught your meaning at once.  is it true that somewhere during the course of law school there are classes dedicated to felicitous turns of phrase?  given the turgiditiy of most legal writing one would hardly credit it, but law school graduates survivors of my personal acquaintance (admittedly subject to strong selection bias) seem by example to prove otherwise.

you see, the survivors are the ones who needed to use their turns of phrases....and moved on....bw

there seems to be some sort of entrance/exit stability in the law: for the longest time I have known about as many folks who are putting vast amount of time/money/effort into getting into it as who are trying equally hard to get out.

the only other field I can think of in which a similar balance can be found is primary and secondary education, but in that case there are patterns to the demographics -- younger folks getting into it and burning out, but also older folks looking to get into it.  I don't hear about as many of the latter burning out but perhaps they just disappear and I don't hear anything at all.  it's hard to say.

our ponies are all things to all people.

those of legal age can imbibe; the younger set can ride.
but nobody is allowed to drink and ride.
