SLC incidental images, pt. 3
[OT from cottage renovations]
Saturday morning's production activities didn't need anything from me so I was able to dawdle over to the facility, walking through the city's historic district on the way. the 2001 Winter Olympics must have provided a brief surge of economic activity which seems to have washed on through as there were quite a few vacant storefronts. one level above, however, these stone faces were gazing out over the street.

this bronze lion certainly looks like a worthy guardian of anybody's deposits. what the plaque doesn't tell you, however, is that behind these impressive doors the bank bulding is empty. whatever happened, I don't think it was the lion's fault.
this handsome bison is emerging from the stonework, note the way the chin curls around the lip of the arch keystone. he/she looks rather surprised but slighly sad.
these fellows are still on the job, holding up the canopy with massive chains hooked to their nose rings. looks mighty uncomfortable to me but it made me wonder how many patrons of the establishment (the Manhattan Club) might sport matching piercings. I had to get over to the studio, though, leaving the question unanswered.
