these are also from 30 June. video production does involve lots of hurry-up-and-wait. during a bit of the latter my UK colleague needed to get some flip flops and I tagged along on a quick walk to a nearby store. he found his sandals pretty quickly and then got a bit of distracted in the consumer electronics section; for my part I never made it past the garden department ...

there are times when I wonder how fuchsia evolved before hanging baskets came along. like tomatoes and basil, it's one of those combinations that just works.

gazinias, these are new to me. I was pleased to make their acquaintance.

not as far as I could tell. early afternon on a weekday the place was fairly quiet so I wasn't in anybody's way and the help wasn't out there looking for things to do in the way of confronting, as I believe they say in your part of the world, "picture takin' fools".

that's interesting. I've only ever heard it used by native speakers of Southern. the usage must be more localised than I had thought.
I do hope it conveys the general impression. closest synonym I can think of would be "snap happy" which doesn't quite work because the term needs to be a bit more condescending and dismissive.

(Anonymous) 2006-07-05 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)And bouganvillea? I assume it's in a pot and will move indoors in the fall. The last time I was in SLC was in November 1994, and it was 28 degrees.

that could very well be. my botanical source was the marketing information printed on the plastic tabs in the pots.
taxonomy was so much harder for Linnaeus, he had to invent it. or would it have been easier for his having been at liberty to make things up as he went along?
