walking crosstown is always better when it includes traversing Central Park -- what a contrast it presents from its immediate surroundings.  I never fail to be impressed with Olmsted's masterpiece of design and execution in this urban space, and the effort that goes into keeping it attractive.

I have mixed feeling about this image. 
it has enough technical and aesthetic flaws that I wouldn't normally share it, and for that reason was somewhat reluctant to post it here.  but as a best-available-though-not-very-good attempt to catch the moment it sort of works.  as previously noted the trip wasn't about photography, this one just sort of happened.
