110 days late and a few shades off

[OT from cottage renovations]

valentine's day came and went months ago.  though as usual I did not participate, our trees have produced their own delayed observance as seen this morning.

  • in the Circle the redbuds have put forth their customary heart shaped leaves, seen here in nontraditional (for the event, not the tree) green with edges delineated by backlit morning sunlight.

  • at the edge of Howard Park on the grounds of the Town Hall stands a grove whose trees are planted in memory (or honour, for the living) of those who have made a mark upon the Town.  this fine American Redbud honours Carol Uhlendorf.  when viewed downlight its leaves are more of a russet or magenta but from the other side they take on a red hue that complements the shape quite nicely.

these trees were in bloom as noted in this journal on 15 April and 16 April of this year.

I'm going to have to learn how you posted those photos side-by-side like that.

aw, and here I was thinking you might have liked the images ...

Oh, I most certainly DID like the photos. Red's my favorite color, so I'm partial to any tree that adorns itself in any variation of that.

Noted about the effect. I may try it out on a near-future entry.
