roses in the afternoon

[OT from cottage renovations]

down on Chestnut Avenue this English rose is blooming with a wild abandon.  afternoon sweetlight seems to bring out the best in its flowers so I made a point of being there to try to take advantage of the felicitous combination.

back at home the same light came streaming through Mrs Carter Emmons' rose bush (previously noted in entry for 13 June 2005).  I believe it to be same variety.

What kind of camera do you use?

it's a Nikon D70S; which I've had for about a year now.  technically it's a leap (or two, or three) past the Sony DCS-P1 pocket camera it replaced, but some of my better images were taken before I upgraded.  decent gear is a tremendous advantage, one which I would never willingly forsake, but being in the right place at the right time and one's outlook are more important IMHO.
