the refenestration is set for monday, so by way of preparation I had gone ahead with removing those parts of the North wall framework used only to support the outer layer of shingles.  after clearing segments of the inner shingle layer behind the framework members it became clear that the finish of the original siding, now exposed to air and light for the first time in ~75 years, is experiencing paint fade.
