Monday. after the rain

[OT from cottage renovations]

by the end of the day the rain finally stopped and the light that remained was enough for walking around to assess conditions.

oh how very cool.  but alas, gondawanaland reunification (http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?int=gondwanaland+reunification) is such a lost cause that it hasn't even attracted a second LJ user.  but that's OK: as projects go it has a longer time frame than most.

LJ has a friend-of-a-friend view that I happened upon, in which was your entry and image link about a Schwinn tandem.  last October I happened upon an old Hawthorne tandem (http://www.livejournal.com/~15_the_circle/235659.html), described by my bike mechanic friend as a Montgomery Wards rebranding of a Huffy.  it's ancient, weighs a ton and is built like an army tank.  also loads of fun, though a bit short of roadworthy at present on account of needing its tyres replaced.  it is set up with a front handbrake and a rear coaster brake (allowing both to be engaged even if one happens to be out solo on it).
