this image from the Los Angeles Times web site has become deeply stuck in the visual part of my mind even though it's only been an hour or so since I first saw it:

for some context, here's a link to the rest of the story. 

its impact has nothing to do with any memory of living there through fires; rather, the image stands on its own, but seems to be heading off in several directions at once. 

is it just me, or does it do the same to/for anybody else?

looks like angel wings holding the helicopter aloft.

then again, something from the ground is radiating upward pushing energy into the bird.

It is an amazing photo. Mr. Vander Brug should receive an award for this one.
