yesterday's weather (cold with winds from the NW at 25 mph, gusting to 50) made for a commute one could describe as brisk.  today will be colder but a moderate reduction in wind velocity will likely offset the lower temperature. 

the current commute is a bit over twice as long as the last one but some investments in upgraded gear have meant that the greater exposure doesn't bring discomfort. 

the sustained wind has pretty much managed to finish off the last of the leaves up in the trees.  as for the ones at ground level, I suspect that a goodly quantity of them must have blown out to sea and must be half way across the Atlantic by now. 

as the above cat cam image shows, there's a great deal more sky visible over the Circle than there had been just a couple of days ago.
