a week ago an errand took me a couple of stops away on the subway. on the E side the bus bays and parking stations are bordered by trees like this sycamore.

I don't normally bring camera to work, but last Friday evening I was going to need it for an errand so it came along for the ride in both directions. the inbound commute ends with a brief portage through a cleared lot and a shortcut along a narrow patch of woods, along which

this vine, climbing a bit of greenbrier, presents a benign aspect in morning light. even the thorns look more festive than threatening.
