[OT from cottage renovations]

the cat door has a whimsical exterior appearance but a highly directed practical purpose:  to allow on-demand ingress and egress for the cats.  one would not normally consider it a source of mystery. 

at some time during the interval following yesterday's last cat picture and before this morning's first one (which is to say under cover of darkness and thereby masked from the cat cam's all-seeing gaze) an anonymous benefactor made use of it to deposit a holiday treat in the front room. 

looking like something the cat dragged in?

I don't know to whom to address my thanks for the tasty incursion, but I do hope the perpetrator is aware of my gratitude.  they were delicious.

Peake's revenge

a few minutes after midnight Peake did drag something in.  a dead mouse. 
it took him a while to get it though the cat door but his persistence ultimately prevailed. 

no doubt he was taking exception to my having made a joke at his expense.
