the cottage has plenty of dual use facilities. the w.c. doubles as a conservatory for epiphytes, and the porch also serves as the rip track.

what's a rip track? every rail yard has one: a plein air facility for running repairs to equipment. changing out draft gear, brake rigging, wheelsets and the like.

the eyebolts used in better times for hanging baskets can readily support some sashcord from which a bicycle can be suspended. it's not quite the same thing as having a tuning stand but it works quite well for little tasks.

wheel reflection

look closely at the image above and you'll see that the vehicle is a mixte-frame tandem, a Montgomery Wards Hawthorne dating from the late 1960s/early 1970s.

spokes shadow

cleanup and lubrication for the tandem were followed by some minor work on the general purpose street bike and a quick check ride; on returning its headlight made this pattern through the spokes of the tandem's front wheel and onto the porch floor.
