because the water company has the Circle all dug up between 3^rd and 4^th Avenues this year's 4^th of July parade had to detour along the arc between 1^st and 2^nd Avenues. the diversion kept it away from the porch thereby precluding any opportunities to take the customary images of the Mayor on the Town Tractor, the Muskrat Band, the Kazoo Band, grovers in costume and little ones on decorated trikes coming 'round the Circle.
