the ether is filled with all manner of radio energy, some of it high in information content but most of it zapping past without much intrusion into our lives.  it's not limited to conventional broadcasting: cordless 'phones, wireless mice, remotes for just about anything ... even the ATCS railroad control system packets gathered and shared by the upstairs computers. 

but what is the taxonomy of the airwaves?  this view of it is completely charming and I offer no rebuttal.
