Grove Avenue

over the course of the morning the overnight light rain gradually petered out, turning into a lingering mist.

Our Main Street

even by Grove standards traffic was light; a single pedestrian had turned off the walkway a few seconds before this image was taken.

more rain, less light means that flying pollinators are grounded by weather so the flowers close up shop, leaving petals tightly furled until circumstances are more favourable.

with ground level detail like this needing to be captured I have to admit to having had to lie down three times in order to walk across the Circle.  most days I can manage it in a more straightforward fashion.

Grove Avenue at Center Street

this Magnolia is always one of the first to come into bloom; I look out for it every year.  these blooms are just emerging from the buds but at higher elevations they're all the way out (and visible in the distance in the Grove Avenue image posted earlier today, if you look).

if you'll be attending Sunday's Mousetrap Concert in McCathran Hall, take a moment to walk across Chapel Park and regard this exquisite cherry tree.  it's just started coming into bloom but they don't last long.
