I've been a bit neglectful of posting updates to this week's work on the S wall.

the middle and E sections have an overhang that projects out over the side. it lines up more with the end of the front section high pitched roof than it does with the change in the wall geometry where the sections actually join it. the Excellent Trim Carpenter suggested bringing the overhang forward; this will afford a bit of protection to the seam in addition to that provided by its batten board. this shows where it will go and how it will fit together.
the lower section has had its band board made up and installed. also visible are the horizontal and vertical batten boards over the joints in the original wood siding.
with the kichen window framing exposed by shingle removal, something needed to be done about the gaps between it and the wall. this is just a temporary measure, as much of this is to be reworked come next year's kitchen rehab-o-rama.
