I have very much been looking forward to getting back to this book.

why is it that travel is so much about laundry? there's the obvious: one leaves with clean clothes and returns with the same ones in need of washing. but somewhere along the way the association got a little tighter.
Chessie figured out the connection between packing and absence pretty quickly, and would get quite upset whever luggage was produced. it got to where I had to put her out in order to pack, not that it fooled her -- of course it didn't -- but I could not bear upsetting her so. accordingly I acquired the habit of packing more or less at the last minute; outbound objects could be staged without making her miserable. similarly, on return I pretty much unpack straight into the laundry machinery or hampers and stow the bags right away.
she's been gone for months and Peake isn't bothered by packing, but habits have tremendous momentum.

Salt Lake City has, to say the least, abundant strong light. it's quite different from what I'm used to at home. the schedule was pretty tight but I was able to take advantage of a couple of brief opportunities for snappage.

masses of these flowers were planted on an embankment next door to the production facility. a brief delay in the taping provided a chance to gawk and click.

across the street from the above was an Orthodox church whose distrinctive domes made for an interesting composition with the power and wires for the traction power feed of the light rail University Line. here is, also, a more conventional view of the S tower.
