[for once, not OT from cottage renovations]
the Excellent Trim Carpenter has been busy fabricating screen and storm window frames in his shop; he has also gotten a good start on the new upper front window. this morning he brought one of each size for a sanity check against apertures, as well as the upper front window mocked into a frame. he is rebuilding the latter out of old window components that were on hand, from which ripply old glass will also be reused.

I do have to admit to a certain perverse satisfaction with the notion of replacing aluminum frame storm-and-screen sets with these wooden framed ones which will combine the older design with contemporary, thermally efficient glass. old tech doesn't have to be low tech.
