Wednesday's jaunt to New York wasn't about photography or abotany, but nor was it without opportunity. this tuberous begonia was in a flower box along the sidewalk on W 72nd Street.

walking crosstown is always better when it includes traversing Central Park -- what a contrast it presents from its immediate surroundings. I never fail to be impressed with Olmsted's masterpiece of design and execution in this urban space, and the effort that goes into keeping it attractive.

a beautiful day with late spring easing on into early summer is perfect for these visitors to take a rowboat out on the lake.
