a white lilac. 
in the rain. 
with lots of tiny detail. 
what it comes down to is that I don't have it in me to resist taking this picture.

tulip detail

a botanist will tell you these are parrot tulips.  but anybody who has ever been the parent of a child swept into the world of Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000; (or who has been such a child, I guess) can tell you at a glance that these are a Tyranid pair.  despite having held noncombatant status (while backing the wars financially) I'd recognise them anywhere.
