[OT from cottage renovations]

an office space relocation this week has made for some very long hours, the more so because the effort was undertaken without proper planning and preparations.

the details are immaterial: it is an abuse of blogging technology to use it for the purpose of indulging in whining and it is neither appropriate nor productive to whine about one's workplace in any forum (if ambient conditions become intolerable, improvement isn't really likely and it makes more sense to leave, securing another position first if feasible though sometimes getting the heck out of there is a higher priority).

but double shifts for a few days seems to have been hard on Peake.  I make sure there's food in his dish when I leave and it gets replenished upon my return, but he does get some help in consumption from Cat Van Beek and my delays in getting back to feed him have apparently lengthened the interprandial interval past his tolerance.  yesterday he felt compelled to break into the sack of kitty crunchies and help himself.

I don't think he stopped to read the vendor's warning label clearly stating that overfeeding can lead to obesity -- but perhaps his choice of the satisfaction guarantee for an entry point was his own way of expressing a product endorsement.

he doesn't usually have this opportunity.  the cat food is stored in a large glass jar and the sack is only around if the jar lacks the capacity to allow whatever remains in bag to be decanted.
