the leading edge of winter finally showed up, in the form of a hard frost last night.  overnight lows in the 20s will continue for the next few days.

so far, so good.  cottage interior has remained reasonably warm and comfy. 
(last year's worst-of-winter low point was when the cats' water dish froze over inside the kitchen).
