after all the deshingling, denailing and deframing it's a pleasant change to move on to the reframing of the W wall.  as seen here the apertures for the doors and flanking windows are in place.  note that the wider windows won't exactly match the original configuration -- the horizontal offset from the original pediment is quite evident in the image below.

W wall framing begins to take shape

when the time came at the end of the day to secure the wall again, the horrid plywood slabs were placed back into position but the pieces of the former sliding glass door had already been carted trailered off, so the door frame was temporarily installed and the doors fixed in place.  the appearance is deceptive, however: they're actually functioning as a window.  this has not kept the cats from coming up to it and demanding door service, which, when it is not forthcoming, causes them to be both puzzled and disappointed.  when things get a bit further along their wish will be granted.
