yesterday Meg passed her postoperative checkup with flying colours and was released from activity restrictions.  this made her eligible for going out without the safety line but on returning home, unaware of the possibilities, she decided to take a nap instead.

Meg unleash'd

so this morning the transition, when it came, was almost a non-event.  she went out the cat door and spent a half hour within her previous radius; only gradually did she set forth on brief forays into the Circle and environs, generally coming back after each one. 

the harness and tether have been retired and it can now be said that she is a Circle Cat.
