[OT from cottage renovations]

when light and texture are out there to play with even the honeysuckle gets in on the act.  I had spent part of the morning clearing some of it from the Circle where it (along with Virginia creeper, something that I'm probably misidentifying as a form of sumac, barberry and the persistently abundant poision ivy) were crowding out a few of the azaleas.  this one, on private property, had nothing to fear from me.

My favorite. I'd teach young Robert how to get at the nectar but I think I'll wait until he's more likely to get the concept of "don't eat MOST plants" before I go there.

You are right to wait. My 10-year old was after the nectar last week and developed poison ivy on his face! I warned him not to go into the hedgerow to get to the honeysuckle, and I bet the poison ivy vine was hardly visible. bamboo walker

while pulling some poison ivy from the Circle over the weekend, despite having taken precautions I was exposed anyway.  it never seems to take me long to produce lots of reaction, but with Tecnu I was able to eliminate the symptoms.
