the Circle's violets (Saturday)

some species are having a bit of difficulty this spring but others are making up for them.  among the latter are the violets.

these are called Confederate Violets, presumably the pale grey reminds some of the South's military garb.

even the common violets are putting on an uncommon show.  this one was catching late afternoon sunlight.

I have seen many more violets this year - which I have not noticed in previous ones. Have not seen the confederate ones though. Will have to look closer.

they are quite abundant in and around the Circle, but I would think that would be the same anywhere else within the Grove.
