new growth

[OT from cottage renovations]

though the current warm and incredibly pleasant weather will only hold for another day, if that, things are bursting out all over and exceeding my ability to keep up with them.  I'm not really complaining, though: it's a good problem to have.

even when first forming the leaves of the hydrangeas do wonderful things with light.  morning light, as shown here, might be best of all.

I've been watching the woods for signs of bloodroot, a reliable early bloomer.  it hadn't been showing up so I went over to a spot a few miles away along the railroad where it's established and sure enough there it was.

out behind the Post Office this apple tree is just covered with blossoms.  picking up the mail has never been so distracting.

even at this spring's pace it's a bit early for the dogwoods to come into bloom, but as you can see preparations are well underway.

Nice group of spring flowers! It reminds me that I haven't checked my dogwoods progress yet this spring. It looks like we aren't going to be in the mid 50's to 60's again until next week, so those humming birds better hold up a little south until then. Not many flowers blooming here yet, though the maple tree and willow catkins have been out a long time. TK
