one that somebody else looked up

[OT from cottage renovations]

wandering through the ruins I came across these little gems.  I haven't had the time to look them up but will come back and revise this post once I acquire some clue as to what they are.

thank you so much for tracking this one down.  funny how something that looks so attractive can be such a nuisance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_horsenettle).

It really is. And they have all those prickles on them -- so they're not an easy thing to get rid of! The other thing that lots of folks don't always understand -- just because it's native and not introduced doesn't mean that it can't be invasive either!

funny thing is I now realise, from looking at the fruit, that we've got some of this back in the Grove.  it's in the upper field.  I hadn't known what it was and hadn't ever seen it in bloom -- will have to watch for that (not to mention watching out for it) later in the season.

thanks again for the identification.

Most of the fruits on Solanaceous things look alike -- even Tomatos (and potato flowers ...) Deadly nightshade doesn't look that different except that the fruits are smaller.

thanks again for the identification.

You're more than welcome!

I guessed aright!
It looked like some sort of Nightshade to me, though I had no idea exactly which. I always thought this family looked beautiful, in spite of (or maybe partly because of) the toxins.

Thank you for sharing these pictures. The colours are lovely!
