one that somebody else looked up
[OT from cottage renovations]
wandering through the ruins I came across these little gems.
I haven't had the time to look them up but will come back and revise this post once I acquire some clue as to what they are.
[ed: many thanks to
florentinescot for the identification]

IIRC, they're poisonous
re: they're poisonous
thank you so much for tracking this one down. funny how something that looks so attractive can be such a nuisance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_horsenettle).

funny thing is I now realise, from looking at the fruit, that we've got some of this back in the Grove. it's in the upper field. I hadn't known what it was and hadn't ever seen it in bloom -- will have to watch for that (not to mention watching out for it) later in the season.
thanks again for the identification.

It looked like some sort of Nightshade to me, though I had no idea exactly which. I always thought this family looked beautiful, in spite of (or maybe partly because of) the toxins.
Thank you for sharing these pictures. The colours are lovely!
