after slogging through the East Woods' mud I emerged near the home of m_lightfoot who happened to see me passing by and called out an offer of a nice cuppa tea.  and a chance to visit.  and a chance to see this orchid that's in bloom:

honestly, it looked innocent enough by itself, and about the same in the camera's preview display.  perhaps it's a trick of the optics, but I don't recommend staring at the full size image just before going to bed.  not if you want a good night's sleep, that is.

He took the photo a couple of years ago at an orchid show at the Missouri Botanical Garden. I use it as an icon because it looks like a face!

Orchids

I've just acquired this beauty. Also got a grab bag of three unidentified Cymbidiums (Cymbidiae?) in the hope that one will be the white one I saw in bloom before they went to the Clearance Corral. How obscenely well-designed their blooms are for their purpose, even Georgia O'Keeffe could not have done better!
