porch paint
friday the painters finished off the columns, the S wall, and quite a few other details. by doing so they advanced to the point where the deck could finally get past the primer it's had since the first week of May.
due to an evening obligation downtown to which I had gone directly from the office I didn't get back until nearly midnight. even in the darkness what could be seen of it looked pretty encouraging. not wanting to take any chances I came in by the back door.

the expanse of fresh gleaming paint makes more of a difference than one might think -- after all, that floor under it has been there for months now. it's been dark and overcast all day so these images don't really do justice to the appearance the place now presents.

there are still things to be done on this phase, but it's mostly complete and I'm mostly thrilled with the outcome (when the rest of it is done I'll be the rest of thrilled). I've pretty much got the next one mapped out, at least conceptually. and this morning I picked out a couple of elements that will be incorporated into it.
if that isn't a danger sign, I don't know what one is.
