[OT from cottage renovations]

this story is all too typical of what one might expect from a Vista upgrade-in-place.  my own reaction has been along the lines of "Just Say No" (on purchasing a new laptop within the past week it's no coincidence that I chose one configured with Win XP). 

until the software and device compatibility combatibility issues are resolved I ain't in no hurry.
