trains in the snow

[OT from cottage renovations]

snow on the ground is kind to the trains; reflected light comes up softly from underneath and the visual distraction of ground clutter is cleared out, leaving the crisp arc of the rails.

I wants me some snow too! It ought to be illegal for it to be this cold and *not* snow!

we've got plenty; feel free to help yourself.  the sooner you can come to collect it, the better.  and upstate New York has lots to spare.

it is still endlessly amusing to me that the Wonder Boy wants to finish his undergrad studies at Syracuse.  this week it would take some serious digging to even find the place.

I wish! The most I've ever seen at once was a foot. I can mostly wrap my brain around 2-3 feet. The mind just absolutely *boggles* at 12 feet. That stuff will *never* melt (I can see the headlines now! Mini Ice Age in Upstate New York!). When we had the "blizzard" of 93 -- we had a foot of snow, and where they'd mounded it all up in the Mall Parking Lot -- that stuff was still there well into May or June!
