[OT from cottage renovations]

somewhere along the way I have to admit it: I don't really care for tulips.  I don't know why that is, but they've always left me cold. 

so I don't really go out of my way to photograph them.  after all, they're just tulips, so what's the big deal? 

but today even I couldn't resist some of the ones that are currently blooming on the grounds of M^cCathran Hall.  with their ovoid shape and markings evocative of brush strokes they look for all the world like refugees from the Easter Egg hunt held there two weeks ago.

Tulips are favorites of mine. These are lovely.

on these plants the wild 'n' crazy markings are lurid and dazzling, but it was their texture and details that caused me to relent.  based on recent image postings, _viridian_ seems to have an inexhaustible supply of tulips whose details are fractally intense. 
so perhaps there's hope after all ...
