late light

[OT from cottage renovations]

not much in the way of images today.  cold and wind were enough to be somewhat off-putting, but the real issue was one of time allocation as other concerns consumed most of the dayspan.

Bittersweet Cottage garden

on returning a bit of late afternoon slanted sunlight was illuminating these hydrangea heads; it made them look like they were floating in the clear chilly air.

this writhing mass of twisted ivy vines is a trophy from the successful campaign, a few years ago, to free one of our larger oaks from a choking mass of English Ivy.  I think of it as found sculpture, the form and texture of which was enhanced by the quality of the light.

thank you, I'm glad you liked the image.

that section of dried vine stems is about 1.5m high; I've never quite figured out what to do with it so for the nonce it leans against a porch pillar.  I would like to find some way to incorporate it into design or display it, but inspiration has not yet struck.

I'm aweful with that kind of stuff (design things like that). About the only thing that I could think of would be to turn it into a lamp! LOL -- and I don't really know if it would work or not!

I love the light filtering through the dried hydrangia petals. It makes them seem to sparkle.

it caught my eye from a couple hundred ft away.  on seeing it I rushed inside and hauled out the camera gear at once, hoping to catch it before anything could change.
