[OT from cottage renovations]

ashamed that [livejournal.com profile] karenleigh outscored* me on the "Are you a Republican?" meme, seeking comfort in another one on the same site I learned that:

I am:
William Gibson
The chief instigator of the "cyberpunk" wave of the 1980s, his razzle-dazzle futuristic intrigues were, for a while, the most imitated work in science fiction.

Which science fiction writer are you?

----------
* I am so in awe of her -1% score.  you go grrrrl!

my score was: +4% ("You're a complete liberal, utterly without a trace of Republicanism.  Your strength is as the strength of ten because your heart is pure. (You hope)").

your heart is pure! i love that.

Republicans and science fiction writers

(Anonymous) 2007-02-02 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm only 70% Republican, even though I deliberately picked the most outrageous answers to the first several questions.

But as to science fiction writers, I'm Robert Heinlein. Oh, oh! Can we still get along together...?

your quiz results confirm everything I've ever suspected ...

perhaps you'd like to try again, with the "world's smallest political quiz (http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html)"?
once again I was pegged as:

I always seem to end up firmly in the Libertarian sector. You'd never guess...

not at all.  it fits you to a T

the authors/host of the quiz reveal their viewpoint by their choice of words: I've never seen the term "statist" used other than by Libertarians.

Are You a Republican?

oh my dear sweet lord! It says I'm 21% Republican! *totally appalled* How can that be? I'm a rational anarchist! *runs screaming into the freezing night* Nice pic of the moon btw.

I did the smallest quiz ... at least that time I flung off the fetters of Republicanism! Still not where at politically though.

*groans* don't mention that word to me for at least three centuries! After 20 years of exemplary behavior, there was

what error message are you getting?

Re: re: filthy LJ!

[identity profile] shadowfoxstars.livejournal.com 2007-02-06 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
No error message at all. It simply sits smiling benignly at me not letting me in... empties the log-in boxes and just sits there. *snivels again* btw I wasn't aware that inside where you are is any warmer than outside, she said wickedly.

it seems I do live a quiet life.

Yeah that would be the donkey doo he stuck in my drink -- to which, as I said, I am deathly allergic.

Oh, this is the SF writer I am ...

I am:
Hal Clement (Harry C. Stubbs)
A quiet and underrated master of "hard science" fiction who, among other things, foresaw integrated circuits back in the 1940s.

Which science fiction writer are you?

re: which SF writer ...

[identity profile] 15-the-circle.livejournal.com 2007-02-06 03:25 am (UTC)(link)

I was amused to have it point to a writer on my LJ profile interest list, but I would have been equally happy had it pointed to Robert L. Forward (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_L._Forward) or Vernor Vinge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernor_Vinge).

PTHM, as he noted above, got Robert Heinlein.  he ain't gonna live that one down, not for a long time.
