better late than never

this morning I finally got around to caulking the exposed gaps in the upper section of the W wall. 

rather than paint it during this round of work I'm planning on letting it be until the 3^rd phase at which point the upper window will be replaced with one matching the dimensions and trim of what used to be there.  the visible aperture and trim paint shadow show what needs to happen.

until this is done I don't mind leaving it the way it is, as a reminder of what once was -- and may be yet again.  if it's going to stay this way for a while, some stabilising will help.
