light along Oak Street
[OT from cottage renovations]
the past few days of mostly overcast gave way to an intense clear light.
cold, windy clear light.
having taken the day off I was at liberty to head out to it and freeze my [quaint expression] off see its effects.

as it happens, today's images were all taken along
Oak Street
which from one part to another is alternately paved, then a grassy walkway, then gravel, and then grass again.
the cold didn't seem to be bothering this Lenten rose and the light was playing nicely through its leaves.
hellebore
the gravely section is used for access to the parking lot serving the tennis and basketball courts and the playing field. it's also the starting point for the 4th of July parade.
redbud seed pod
the flag in the background is flying at half staff in mourning for the late president Gerald Ford.
the light on these fallen leaves was bringing out detail in fine relief, subdued in comparison to stark shadow cast by overhanging blades of grass.
the full sun passing through these hanging seed clusters turned them into glowsticks.
no subject
I'm always on the lookout for plants to add to my hypothetical garden someday. Are hellebores easy to grow?
no subject
there are none here in the cottage garden but they are reported by those who grow them to be easy to get started and once established to take little or no effort to sustain.
hellebore
oops, in replying I had meant to include this wikipedia link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellebore).
Re: hellebore
Ahh, Wikipedia. A wealth of information.
