it's a competitive market out there, and each shrub, vine and tree uses a different method to get its fruit or berries noticed.  some go for the bright colours (dogwood) while others add optical effects (honeysuckle) or display their offerings in great profusion (ilex). 

over on the other side of the Circle this vine is mixing colours, going for a variety of pastels that would look just fine in an easter basket (for which I substituted the pale green glow of a leaf in the sunny background). 

the message to the birds, squirrels and other consumers is clear: go ahead and take your pick.  winter is coming on and you will need that energy, either to migrate yourself down to warmer climes or stored up to make it through in place.
