wide open spaces to the S
today the S wall was cleared of shingles, plywood and low grade insulation all the way back to the end of the original cottage section (after which there's a drop to an intermediate level containing guest room and the two bathrooms).
it provided the opportunity for an interesting look into the inside of the wall, and I was pleased to see that the interior TIG doesn't seem to have been abused in more than a couple of very small patches. like the rest it seems to have thin styrofoam sheets and wallboard applied; I think I'll try to go after that from the inside over the next couple of weeks, time permitting (that's right, it's been too long since the place was plagued with excessive gypsum dust).

S wall interior
the dangling white wire to the R is an abandoned ISDN circuit left over from the first generation of cottage broadband. it wasn't really all that long ago that it came and went; nor was it in service for very long, just a flash in the pan over the cottage's time scale.
