[OT from cottage renovations]

what does one see in a leaf that's managed to hold on through as much of the fall and winter as this one has?

there's light, form and texture, all the obvious stuff that reaches out to capture attention while walking past. movement, too, in whatever amount of breeze might happen to be stirring.

the shape of the leaf, the arrangement of stem and veins: it all has about it the look and feel of the outline, spine and bones of a fish. Kodomo no hi is months away [5 May] but isn't this a koinobori? sure looks like one to me ...
