the Blizzard of '05 (part 3)
our snow had pretty much melted, but over last night the inventory was replenished with the arrival of about 4 inches of it.
there wasn't time for pretty snow pictures before heading off to work but I have to admit to some dawdling along the way. the days are certain to run over and this time of year the morning commute represents my only access to natural light so it's only human to want to make the most of the opportunity it affords.
regardless of the dawdle factor, coming in I did get pretty soaked below the knees. NBD though -- that's why I keep a spare set of trousers and socks in the office. with the bicycle frame as an improvised drying rack and a small fan pointed at them the wet set doesn't take long to return to a reasonable condition.
next time it does this I'll experiment with wellies.

Wellies
(Anonymous) 2005-12-10 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)From Grace - we only have a foot of snow and the coldest it has gotten is minus 20 F, so we're all waiting with bated breath for winter to arrive up here. Would you like us to send you a pair of snowshoes? -- Grace
re: Wellies
Greta,
good heavens, I had no idea those wellies were still there. I had figured they would have been passed on to somebody who could have made use of them at some point over the 5½ years it's been since we were last there. there's no need to send them here, I do keep a pair in Maryland as well.
but thank you for the offer. it's comforting to know there's an off-site backup.
Grace,
wimps that we are, what we've has so far does pass for winter in these parts. since we're neither prepared for nor acclimated to what you would consider a real winter, the +20s is plenty cold enough for us. and many thanks for the kind offer of snowshoes, but most Marylanders would take one look at them and ask what the heck happened to those Lacrosse sticks :).
