Tuesday: scientific jargon
[OT from cottage renovations]
this Common Paw paw tree is one of two planted over on the other side of the Circle.
OK, so a circle doesn't have sides, but here in the Grove the Circle is actually an irregular polygon.
it's about as round as our cottages are level.
and plumb.
and square.
you get the idea.

the Circle
given the Grove's proximity to the National Institutes of Health and the county's biotech industry our population contains a higher-than-average proportion of biologists. something must be rubbing off from them as despite my ignorance of things botanical and biological I do make an effort to try to identify and post the Latin binomial for any species appearing in this space.
Asimina triloba
it is to one such neighbour that I am indebted for the precise terminology by which one refers to the fruit of this tree: turdiform.
